Hamburg Innovation Summit
in ZAL TechCenter

The perfect location for the perfect event: the ZAL TechCenter hosted the Hamburg Innovation Summit on 30 May, 2016. As host, ZAL lived up to its position as a platform for new technologies and innovations.

The two patrons – Governing Mayor, Olaf Scholz, and Science Minister, Senator Katharina Fegebank – were in attendance, along with more than a thousand visitors who took advantage of the opportunity to catch a vision of the future.

Current issues, trends and innovations were all accessible for visitors at an exciting innovation fair, in expert presentations, at bar camps and in many other formats.

Lufthansa Technik
in ZAL TechCenter

Lufthansa Technik has already moved in to the ZAL TechCenter with 20 employees, who are involved in researching strategic topics for the future of the aviation industry or more specifically projects from their own Innovation Roadmap. These include areas such as the cabin of the future, 3D printing, Industry 4.0, and CFRP repairs. A cold gas spraying system is available to the employees locally for coating components as well as a 3D printer for additive component manufacturing and a laboratory for metallurgical testing as well as tensile tests. The objective is to develop new repair and production processes. A mock-up in the form of a cabin demonstrator is currently being planned.

The ZAL TechCenter offers optimal conditions for networking as well as for collaborating with expert partners. Lufthansa Technik therefore uses the new premises in this creative environment among other things for internal company workshops, efficient sharing of knowledge, and collaboration between all Product Divisions, for example in the area of cabin electronics.
